End Hunger. Build Hope.
Servants For Hope's 10th Annual Hunger Relief Program — Saturday, November 21, 2026
Every holiday season, many Chicago families face difficult choices between food, rent, and warmth. For ten years, Servants For Hope has stood in that gap — distributing grocery bags filled with shelf-stable meals and pantry essentials to families who need them most, on distribution day and in the weeks that follow.
The Story
Ten years of showing up for our neighbors
What began as a small act of service in Englewood has grown into a consistent, community-led hunger-relief effort serving Chicago families. Since 2017, Servants For Hope has served more than 7,500 families and 14,000 children across the city — with our Hunger Relief Program alone reaching over 1,000 families every year.
This isn't charity from a distance. It's neighbors serving neighbors. Our volunteers show up early, pack grocery bags by hand, and look families in the eye with dignity and respect — because everyone deserves to feed their family without shame.
The 10th Annual Hunger Relief Program marks a decade of consistent service, compassion, and community care.
How It Works
More than a one-day event
Distribution Day — Our annual community gathering is the heart of the program. Families receive grocery bags directly, connect with volunteers and supporters, and access on-site resources — from SNAP enrollment support to workforce and housing information. It's a day of dignity, joy, and community.
Follow-Up Outreach — The work doesn't end when the event does. Grocery bags continue to reach families who couldn't attend — seniors, families facing transportation barriers, people experiencing housing instability, and others identified through our community network. We continue outreach to families with the greatest barriers to access.
Every Bag Includes shelf-stable meal and pantry essentials designed to help families meet immediate household food needs through the holiday season.
Beyond Food
Meeting families where they are
Hunger is rarely just about food. It's intertwined with transportation, housing, employment, and access. That's why, when available, Servants For Hope also connects the families we serve with a wider network of support through our broader outreach:
SNAP enrollment assistance
Housing and utility resources
Career and workforce development
Mental health and wellness referrals
Through our broader seasonal outreach, we also provide family wellness kits — coats, boots, gloves, and hats to help keep kids healthy and safe during harsh Chicago winters.
When a family receives a grocery bag from us, they're also receiving a pathway to longer-term support.
Partner With Us
A decade of partnership — join us for year ten
The scale of this work is only possible because of partners who believe in it. Corporate and community partners have stood alongside Servants For Hope year after year, strengthening our grocery bags with additional high-need items — pantry staples, breakfast foods, healthy snacks for children, household and hygiene products, and gift cards that give families flexibility to purchase fresh, culturally appropriate food.
Partners like CBRE and Englewood STEM High School & Earle STEM have stood alongside us for years. We're actively welcoming new corporate, faith-based, and community partners for our 10th year. Whether you can sponsor grocery bags, host a supply drive, contribute in-kind items, or fund follow-up outreach, there's a place for you in this story.
Volunteer
Be there on distribution day
We need hundreds of hands to sort, pack, and distribute grocery bags — and to help families feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they arrive. Roles are available for individuals, groups, and corporate teams.
